Stairlift

Stairlifts

If your parent has mobility issues and requires the assistance of a walking cane, walker, or wheelchair, then you may also want to consider installing a stair lift in either your home (if they currently reside with you) or in their home. Stair lifts (also known as chair lifts) allow users to sit comfortably in a seat that takes them up the steps using the stairs’ railing as a track. Call Today!

What are Stair Lifts?

A stair lift is a chair that is on a rail that travels up the length of your staircase. It is motorized, so all the user has to do is get in the chair and press a button. Some people confuse a stair lift and a lift chair, but they are very different. A lift chair is a recliner that has the ability to tilt forward, in order to aid the user up and out of the seat. A stair lift is a chair on a motorized rail that is attached to the wall.

Stair lifts are ideal for the elderly, disabled, or injured. Anyone with balance issues or poor lower body strength should consider a stair lift in order to be safer in their own home. Those who have poor mobility have a huge risk of falling in the home, and trying to go up or down stairs, especially if they are trying to carry something by themselves as well, can be very dangerous. Using a stair lift can make it so much safer for them and can give them much greater independence in the home.

How Does a Stair Lift Work?

A stair lift includes a motorized chair with a lift mechanism that attaches to and moves up and down a rail on your stairs. You sit on the chair or stand on a lift as you are safely moved up or down the stairs. The stair lift generally operates on electricity but can have a battery back-up in case of power outages. Stair lifts come in a variety of designs, shapes, and sizes to meet an array of needs. Depending on whether the stairs are straight, curved with landings, or narrow, the stair lift can be customized to address different architectural spaces. Seats should include seatbelts, and modern versions feature motion sensors, call buttons, and braking systems.

Types of Stair Lifts

The main types of stair lifts are straight, curved, outdoor (straight or curved), standing (straight or curved), and platform. Each type of stair lift is intended to interact with a certain type of staircase or other situations in which the consumer requires a certain type of mobility.

Straight Stair Lift

A straight stair lift is the simplest and most inexpensive type of stair lift. This stair lift is installed directly along the side of a completely straight staircase. Some common benefits and features of straight stair lifts include the ability to be installed on either side of a staircase, a retractable rail and seat, and footrest and armrests that fold up when not in use. Straight stair lifts often have the option of a power swivel so you can be automatically and securely moved to the landing at the top of the stairs.

Curved Stair Lift

A curved stair lift is customized to your individual staircase since it follows the unique curve of the staircase. As a result, this type of stair lift is considerably more costly. Curved stair lifts can conform to a myriad of specific requirements, such as staircases that encompass multiple floors, staircases with a landing between floors, and even complex spiral staircases. Like straight stair lifts, curved stair lifts are also typically equipped with a foldable seat, footrest, and armrests and either a power swivel option or the ability to stop directly on a landing. Easy-to-use and intuitive controls are also standard.

Outdoor Stair Lift

An outdoor stair lift can be either straight or curved, depending on the specifications of your outdoor staircase. This type of stair lift is designed to be resistant to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes and is most often used for transportation to and from a porch, deck, driveway or detached garage or shed. Outdoor stair lifts usually have a foldable seat, a seat belt, and a power swivel option, in addition to unique outdoor features such as a lock-and-key to keep them secure and a cover to keep them clean and protected from direct exposure to the elements.

Standing Stair Lift

A standing stair lift is intended for people who have difficulty sitting and standing because of pain or inflexibility in their lower extremities, either due to advanced age, illness, or disability. This type of stair lift may include an elevated seat, tilted seat or a “barstool” type of design that makes rising from a semi-seated position easier. Some stair lifts may be designed to simply allow you to stand upright. A standing stair lift can be adapted for either a straight or curved staircase and is typically fitted with features such as a seat belt, intuitive controls and the ability to park on a landing.

Platform Stair Lift

A platform stair lift can be accommodated for straight or curved staircases and is intended for people who are in wheelchairs or use other mobility devices, such as walkers. This type of stair lift has either an open platform or an enclosed platform. Open platform stair lifts have doors, sides or guardrails while enclosed platform stair lifts resemble a home elevator, but both types are large enough to transport two people.

Why are Stairlifts useful?

Those with limited mobility, such as those with arthritis, back pain, hip problems or other ailments that make climbing stairs challenging or impossible can benefit from stairlifts. People with restricted mobility can securely and easily travel stairs with the use of stairlifts and allowing them to remain in their current homes rather than having to transfer to a single-story building. Stairlifts reduce the danger of falls and other injuries by eliminating the need to use a cane, walker or other supportive equipment to walk steps. Moreover, stairlifts make it simpler to carry objects up and down stairs enabling independent living for those with restricted mobility.

Safety aspects to Setup a Stairlift

  • Ensure that area safety regulations and rules are followed when installing the stairlift.
  • Verify that all connection points are correctly secured and that the stairlift is properly attached to the stairs.
  • Verify that the wall, ceiling or other supporting structure is strong enough to support the stairlift.
  • Check that the stairlift includes a key switch and an emergency stop button for greater security.
  • Make sure the stairlift is adjusted and maintained correctly to reduce the danger of injury.
  • Check if the stairlift has a footstool and seat belt for the safety of the user.
  • Inform users of how to use the stairlift correctly and also include how to safely enter and exit the lift.

Features of Stair Lifts

Many stair lift companies offer the following features as either standard with their models or as an additional add-on or upgrade.

  • Folding Seat & Footrest – Designed to help minimize the amount of space the stair lift takes up when not in use. Some models offer a power option that automatically folds the footrest when the seat is lifted.
  • Swiveling Seat – Allows the user to rotate the seat away from the open stairs for a much safer exit from the stair lift.
  • Adjustable/Customizable Chairs – Additional comfort in the form of generous padding, adjustable seat height and armrest width makes for a much smoother ride.
  • Seat Belt and Safety Sensors – Automotive-grade seatbelts help keep riders safely on the chair while the stair lift is in motion. And safety sensors can detect objects on the stairs that may obstruct the stair lift’s function.
  • Remote Controls – Can be used to automatically “call or send” the stair lift up and down the stairs allowing multiple users to utilize the stair lift.

How Much Does a Stair Lift Cost?

There is no set price when it comes to stair lifts since everyone’s homes and requirements are different. Broadly speaking, a stair lift will cost somewhere between $2,500 and $15,000. That’s a wide price range, but there are certain factors to keep in mind when making an estimate for yourself. Longer stair lifts are more expensive than short ones, for example, and curved stair lifts are more expensive than straight rail ones. If you anticipate needing a stair lift to cover a long, curved staircase, the price could be on the higher end.

There are also certain add-on features that may add to the price of a stair lift. Let’s take a minute to explore some of these additional features.

  • Power Supply: Stair lifts can run on batteries, and receive a charge when they’re docked. A chairlift can have two charging points, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom. A stair lift can also be hardwired to receive continuous power. The type of power the stair lift receives can impact price.
  • Retractable Elements: Stair lifts can have retractable seats, armrests, and footrests to keep them out of the way when not in use. Also, since the rail needs to extend beyond the top stair, that piece of rail can also be made retractable to fold out of the way when the chair isn’t in use.
  • Seat Belts and Harnesses: Seat belts are standard on stair lifts to ensure safety, but they can also be upgraded to be made retractable, or replaced entirely with harnesses that better support the body.
  • Different Seat Types: Customers can select seats that swivel for easier dismount, seats with adjustable heights, and more customizations.
  • Controls and Sensors: Stair lifts can also be made more tech-friendly, featuring motion sensors that can detect obstacles on the stairs and stop the lift from going up or down, manual shutoff buttons, and remotes that can call the chair up or down.

Stair Lift Installation

Most reputable dealers have installation professionals in all major markets to serve buyers, wherever they may be. Although there are DIY (do it yourself) stair lift projects, we recommend that you get a professional to do the work. Stair lifts are extremely complex machines and should only be handled by those who are technically skilled.

Oftentimes, in order to save costs, older adults choose online retailers who offer stair lifts with DIY installation. Ultimately, they get stuck with a stair lift that neither fits their staircase nor works as expected. Just imagine the risk a faultily installed stair lift poses to your life.

Before making a purchase, here are some questions to be answered about installing a stair lift:

  1. Is the structural integrity of the stairway conducive to a stair lift project?
  2. Do you have proper electrical requirements satisfied?
  3. Do you have the proper permitting (if required)?
  4. Do you know how to accurately test the equipment once installed?
  5. What if you have a problem in six months? Who would you call?

If you do not wish to worry about these issues (and more), we recommend that you have a professional do the work. Also, for what it’s worth – We make the same recommendation for walk-in bathtub installations. With heavy-duty, costly equipment, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Trained technicians will visit your premises and attach the stair lift to the stair treads with clamps. There is usually little or no need for home modifications to be made to accommodate this mobility-enabling device. All you need to ensure is that an electric outlet is available near the lift.

The Benefits of Stairlifts

A stair lift benefits the person using it, as well as the caregivers and loved ones who may be concerned about a family member being unable to safely climb a set of stairs. The main benefits of a stair lift are:

  • Independence: One of the top reasons that people choose to have a stair lift installed is to regain their independence at home. A person’s independence becomes limited when they no longer feel comfortable using a staircase at home and require someone’s assistance to safely use the stairs. A stair lift can provide access to the bedrooms upstairs or laundry room downstairs, which means that you or a loved will no longer have to sleep downstairs or avoid going downstairs to do the laundry.
  • Safety: Limited mobility puts many seniors at risk of slipping, missing a step, or tripping on an item on the stairs. Fortunately, these mishaps can be prevented with the installation of a stair lift. After installation, all you’ll need to do is sit on the chair, buckle your seat belt, and with a press of a button, you’ll be safely transported up/down the stairs in no time!
  • Peace of Mind: Your family will have peace of mind knowing that the risk of an injury on the stairs has been greatly reduced. It’ll also remove any anxiety you may have had when trying to climb up and down the stairs.

Fire Damage Restoration

Fire Damage Restoration

Fires are unexpected events that can cause major damage to your home, personal belongings, or commercial property. The damage can cost potentially thousands of dollars. The first few hours after a fire are crucial to help minimize the damage to your property, and fire damage restoration services can help. Call Today!

callusapros-Fire-Damage-Restoration-02

What is Fire Restoration?

The first 24 to 48 hours after fire damage are known as the “golden hours” of recovery. An effective emergency response that quickly stabilizes the facility ensures the recovery of as much property as possible. The acidic soot and smoke damage that is often produced in fires accelerates the deterioration and corrosion of building components and vital assets. To compound the problem, fires are most frequently extinguished with dry chemicals or water. Plus, the toxic smoke odor left behind must be neutralized and deodorized.

The fire damage restoration process includes mitigating damage, providing smoke damage cleanup and water restoration as quickly as possible after the damage first occurs. Beyond the visible structural damage, contents inside the structure must be evaluated for recovery based on a number of factors.

Fire Damage Restoration Process

Let’s take a closer look at the fire damage restoration process.

Assessment of Damage

After first confirming the property is safe to enter, the first thing a fire damage contractor must do is perform an assessment of the damage sustained in the fire and ensuing water intrusion. This typically involves assessing how far the flames and smoke have penetrated into the structure and how extensive any clean up is likely to be. This step also involves assessment of the contents inside of the property to determine what should be discarded and what can be packed out and restored. At the end of a thorough assessment, the restoration company will have a better idea of the scope of the work, how long it will take and can begin formulating a cost estimate.

Security of Property & Debris Removal

After the assessment has been performed, the next step is securing the property. This includes installing fencing around the property, removing debris around the perimeter, and boarding up openings in the structure, as well as tarping or sealing off parts of the roof to protect what’s left of the property from the weather. If certain areas of the property were not impacted by the fire, then it’s important for restoration professionals to ensure that this area is sealed off from the area that was impacted to minimize any cross contamination.

Demolition, Water Removal & Dry Out

The goal during this stage is to prevent further damage due to mold or corrosion by removing water and drying out the property. Personal property will be removed from the interior of the structure. Damaged drywall, flooring and other materials will be removed down to the studs as necessary. Water extraction crews will work with commercial equipment to dry out the structure. Roof tarps will be maintained during this stage to prevent further intrusion of water.

Clean Up & Smoke Removal

This is the most intensive part of a fire damage restoration job: clean up. This step typically involves a lot of manual labor to properly clean smoke and soot from interior and exterior surfaces. In many cases, every inch of the affected area will need to be cleaned. Following proper clean up, deodorizing agents are used to fully remove any lingering smoke odors. If water damage restoration has also been performed, it may be necessary to sanitize or apply antimicrobial chemicals to halt any subsequent mold growth. Off site, any contents that have been packed out are also likely being restored to pre-loss condition. Clean up also involves duct cleaning to remove any soot, smoke or debris that may have settled in ducts.

Construction & Restoration

The final step in returning the property to pre-loss condition is performing any necessary fire damage repairs or to rebuild fire-damaged areas. In the case of a fire, parts of the structure may be completely unsalvageable during the initial assessment, and therefore have to be removed and replaced. This may include: rebuilding and replacing the roof, replacing electrical, replacing and painting drywall, replacing flooring materials, replacing interior counters, fixtures, etc. to bring the property back to pre-loss condition.

What are the Common Causes of Fire Damage?

The leading causes of fire damage are small kitchen fires, electric fires, smoking, and candles. No matter the cause of the fire, let Restoration Local® clean and restore your home and get your life back to normal.

What are the Effects of Fire Damage?

Depending on the severity, a house fire can cause cosmetic and structural damage and ruin personal property.

  • Cosmetic Damage: Black smoke and soot can stain ceilings, walls, carpeting, floors, furniture, and fabrics. Over time, soot can corrode metals. Depending on the damage, repairs include painting, refinishing, or even replacing some items.
  • Structural Damage: Severe fires may damage walls or even your roof. Water from firefighting efforts can also severely weaken walls or flooring. In rare cases, a fire can weaken the structural integrity of your home.
  • Personal Property Damage: Fire and water can damage furniture, electronics, books, photographs, musical instruments, and many other items.

How Much Does It Cost to Recover From a Fire?

On average, homeowners pay about $17,000 to repair their homes from fire damage. However, prices will range based on the size of the fire and the extent of the damage.

For example, if you experience a small fire and are able to put it out quickly, you may only face minor damage and repair costs of roughly $800-$2,800. If most of your home was damaged in a large fire and the repairs are extensive, you may have paid a high-end cost of $150,000.

The cost of fire damage restoration can get expensive since repairs can include:

  • Water damage and cleanup.
  • Soot removal and cleanup.
  • Smoke damage restoration.
  • Ozone smoke removal.
  • Deodorizing furniture and materials.

These repairs can quickly add up, and some homeowners might not think the costs are worth the effort, especially if the damage has made the home unlivable. These homeowners have different options than investing in fire damage restoration, including selling their house as-is.

What Determines the Price of Fire Damage Cleanup?

Several factors determine the cost of repair after a fire. However, every situation is unique and different factors may apply. Once our fire damage contractors survey your home, they will provide a detailed estimate.

  • Cause of the Fire: The source will impact the total price. For example, a cooking oil fire is usually less expensive to repair than a furnace fire.
  • Size of the Area: A large house fire is more expensive to repair than a small bathroom.
  • Length of Time: The repairs will get more expensive the longer the damage is left untreated.
  • Materials Involved: The materials involved also impact the price. Carpeting is usually less expensive to replace than hardwood floors.
  • Accessibility: Areas that are difficult to access are more expensive to restore than damage in open areas.
  • If Additional Services are Required: Additional services like air duct cleaning, content cleaning, mold remediation, or water damage restoration will increase the total amount.
  • Amount of Reconstruction: Sanding and refinishing floors and painting stained drywall will be less expensive than needing to install brand new items. You may also decide to remodel a fire-damaged space as well.

Does Home Insurance Cover Fire Damage?

Most homeowners insurance policies will cover the cost of fire damage clean after a sudden accident. Our restoration specialists are experienced in the claims process and can even bill your carrier directly.

What Rooms are Likely to be Affected by Fire Damage?

Although fires can affect any room, certain factors make specific rooms more prone to fire damage.

  • Kitchens: Nearly half of all home fires occur in the kitchen. From food left unattended to baked-on grease in the oven, there are numerous fire hazards in the kitchen.
  • Bedrooms: After kitchens, bedrooms have the next highest risk of fire damage. Candles and malfunctioning space heaters or electric blankets are the leading cause of bedroom fires.
  • Bathrooms: In bathrooms, candles and malfunctioning personal electrical devices like hairdryers and curling irons cause the most fires.

Mold Removal & Remediation Services

Mold Removal & Remediation Services

Mold is highly destructive and can stain or damage almost anything in your home. Our remediation specialists are trained and certified to deal with mold issues and keep your family safe. We fix the source of moisture, treat surface molds, clean mold stains, and prevent it from returning. Plus, we always offer a risk-free quote on the removal of mold.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-03

What Is Mold and Why Is it Dangerous?

Mold is a fungus that grows from tiny airborne spores and flourishes in warm, moist conditions. Breaking down and decomposing dead organic matter, mold serves a vital function in our planet’s ecosystem. However, when mold thrives indoors, it can be a severe health concern. Many people are sensitive to mold exposure and can quickly develop allergic or asthmatic reactions. Others can develop symptoms such as a stuffy nose, wheeziness, fever, rash, and itchy eyes. Long-term mold exposure can even trigger upper respiratory tract infections, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and, in some cases, even fatal health conditions.

What Causes Mold?

Mold is caused by any persistent source of water. Common causes include:

  • Contaminated Water
  • Dishwasher Leaks
  • Excessive Condensation
  • Floods
  • Foundation Leaks
  • High Humidity
  • Leaky Plumbing
  • Moist Environments
  • Poor HVAC Drainage
  • Roof Leaks
  • Sewage Backups
  • Standing Water
  • Washing Machine Overflows
callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-02

What Is the Mold Removal Process?

The mold remediation process includes fixing the moisture problem, removing contaminated materials, and restoring your home. Although the exact process will vary depending on your situation, the following steps apply to most cases.

  • Fix the Moisture Source:
Our specialists will assess your situation and then fix the source of the moisture. Usually, this involves repairing leaks, improving ventilation, or removing standing water.
  • Mold Removal:
Next, they remove the problem by cutting out moldy surfaces and contaminated walls, flooring, and cabinets. Our technicians will take precautions to prevent the spread of airborne mold spores.
  • Dry Out:
They then dry your home with high-velocity air movers and structural drying dehumidifiers. Drying will stop future mold growth and keep it from spreading.
  • Disinfect and Deodorize:
Once dry, they disinfect your home to kill mold spores and use ozone machines to stop smells. These treatments limit the potential for additional damage and prevent the need for mold cleanup in the future.
  • Reconstruction:
Finally, they rebuild and restore your home. Often this includes installing new walls, cabinets, or carpeting. Once we finish, you will never know it happened.

After providing a free quote, your remediation specialist will answer any questions about the cleaning process.

What Are the Effects of Mold?

Cosmetic and structural issues are the main effects of mold. However, exposure to mold does pose some health risks. Some sources of moisture can lead to other property damage as well.

Cosmetic Damage

It will leave unsightly black spots or stains. Stale or musty odors are also common.

The Most Dangerous Types of Mold Found in Your Home

Mold is not always harmful. Nevertheless, certain species of mold pose a serious threat if left untreated. The following are species of toxic mold that commonly grow inside buildings with water damage and moisture:

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-04

Stachybotrys

Also known as “black mold,” stachybotrys can cause flu-like symptoms, diarrhea, headaches, memory loss, and severe respiratory damage. While stachybotrys is a health risk for everyone, it is especially dangerous for children. It is important to know that black mold is not always black – it can also be dark grey or green and is usually accompanied by a musty or mildewy odor.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-05

Chaetomium

Like black mold, chaetomium is attracted to moist indoor environments. Chaetomium commonly grows in wet, dark spaces such as underneath drywall, wallpaper, baseboards, and carpets. Exposure to chaetomium spores can lead to mild symptoms such as allergies, red eyes, or shortness of breath. It can also have extreme health consequences, including neurological damage and autoimmune disease.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-06

Aspergillus

Aspergillus mold spores most often grow on food, spices, and stored grains. They can also be carried indoors on shoes and clothing and thrive in carpeted spaces. Aspergillus spores can be health risks for anyone with a compromised immune system. Exposure can cause allergic reactions and lung infections, such as aspergillosis.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-08

Penicillium

Like aspergillus, penicillium is prevalent in many everyday environments. It grows on decaying vegetation/compost, wood, fruit, vegetables, and building materials in water-damaged environments. When trapped indoors, it can disperse into the air and house dust, causing asthmatic reactions, bronchitis, respiratory illnesses, and dangerous infections that can turn fatal.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-07

Fusarium

Fusarium is frequently found in plant debris and soil. It also enjoys moist areas, such as inside drywall and foam insulation, beneath the carpet, and on humidifier pans or HVAC systems. Fusarium species can cause mycotoxicosis if ingested in food colonized by the fungal organism. A serious but rare eye infection known as fusarium keratitis can also arise due to exposure to fusarium spores.

callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-11

Alternaria

Alternaria rapidly multiplies during the spring and summer months, particularly in moist and humid climates. This mold type is rarely found in building materials but can grow on electric cables, cardboard, and other textiles in your home. If inhaled, Alternaria can cause hay fever, asthma, and allergic reactions in hypersensitive individuals.

Is Mold Affecting Your Family's Health?

When it grows in your home, toxic mold can cause a wide range of health problems. If you or your children already have health conditions, certain species like black mold can be especially dangerous. The most significant health complication that mold creates is respiratory-related. If undetected or unremoved, mold can cause chronic coughing and severe asthmatic attacks. Mold can also affect the pressure in your sinuses, causing headaches and infections. Toxic mold syndrome is perhaps the scariest side-effect of all. This condition involves swelling in the brain, which can lead to confusion, listlessness, and reduced blood flow.

Most Common Areas to Check for Mold in Your Home

Mold loves dense spaces where moisture is easily trapped. It can grow anywhere, including living rooms and bedrooms, but it tends to be found in the bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room.

Bathroom

  • In the Shower and Bathtub: Mold can seep into small cracks, grow on shower handles and heads, or spread along shower and bathtub surfaces that do not dry. Run your bathroom fan during and after a shower or bath to reduce moisture.
  • In the Sink: Beware of faucet leaks and wet plumbing fixtures. They can get moldy in a hurry.
  • In the Toilet: Regularly check under the toilet seat and around the lip of the toilet rim for mold. It can also grow behind and under the toilet itself.
  • In the Walls: One of the most dangerous places for mold to grow is in walls, because it can spread undetected for a long time and unknowingly jeopardize your family’s health.
  • On the Floor: In bathrooms that lack ventilation, mold spores can even latch onto well-ventilated and open surfaces, such as the floor.

Kitchen

  • The Kitchen Sink: Mold loves wet spaces. Kitchen sinks are especially fertile ground for mold. Check underneath your sink for small leaks to help prevent outbreaks.
  • The Fridge: Even with the colder temperatures, your refrigerator can become contaminated with mold spores – especially if you accidentally leave moldy food inside it for a long time.
  • The Pantry: Mold can easily grow on dry cereals, bread, and stored grains if the conditions are right. Clean your pantry often and properly seal your food to be proactive.
  • The Microwave and Stove: Microwaves and stoves produce heat, which can create condensation and moisture as hot air tries to escape. Inspecting the dark corners for mold and mildew is always wise, and you should make use of kitchen fans to reduce moisture during cooking.
  • Other Places Where Food Crumbs Lay: Mold loves to grow in tight spaces. When crumbs are left to rot or decay behind cabinets and pantries, spores will likely propagate quickly.
callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-09
callusapros.com-mold-Mold-Removal-Remediation-Services-12

Bedroom

  • On Your Mattress: Mold can even find its way on or underneath a mattress. Given that you likely spend every night sleeping on your bed, the close proximity of such spore colonies is especially hazardous.
  • Windows: As warm, indoor air condenses around cold, drafty windows, the glass will begin to sweat with water droplets. This moisture will eventually cause the sills and casings to become wet and develop mold over time.
  • AC and Heating Vents: Naturally attracted to damp surfaces and warm areas, mold loves to cling to air-conditioning units, ductwork, and heating vents.

Other Places in the Home You May Find Mold

As a fungal species, mold is very adaptive and capable of surviving practically anywhere there is moisture. If damp for an extended period, mold will happily dwell in attics, refrigerator drip pans, washing machines, chimneys, and cabinets. With our technicians cleaning and treating your water-damaged areas, we can help stop the spread.

Water Damage Restoration Process

Every water damage situation is a little different, and requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The steps listed below illustrate our process for the “typical” water damage emergency.

Emergency Contact

Believe it or not, the water damage restoration process begins the minute you call us!
Our IICRC trained professionals are ready for your call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
During our first conversation with you, we begin to guide you through the crisis.
We’ll ask several questions to help us better understand your needs and determine the equipment and resources we bring on site – but more importantly, we listen.

Inspection and Water Damage Assessment

When we arrive at your property, we determine the scope of the damage. We’ll inspect and test to determine the extent of damage and how far the moisture has traveled to ensure proper and complete restoration. Before we get to work, we’ll ask you to sign some paperwork that gives us permission to help you.

Water Removal / Water Extraction

The water removal process begins almost immediately and removes the majority of the water. We use powerful commercial-grade pumps and vacuum units to quickly remove hundreds or thousands of gallons from your property, which helps prevent secondary water damage and mold growth.

Removal of un-salvageable materials

If the water has damaged drywall or floors, depending on the source of the water, building materials as well as furnishings may need to be removed.
We photo-catalog the extent of the damage and keep a detailed record of the property damage loss.

Drying and Dehumidifying

We use commercial equipment to remove the remaining water that is harder to access. Our Professionals will use room measurements, temperature, and relative humidity to determine the optimal number of air movers and dehumidifiers needed to dry your home or business. We will visit your home or office several times after the equipment has been set up to monitor the drying process to make sure it’s drying fast.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

We clean all of the items that can be restored as well as the structures damaged by the water using a number of techniques.
Our professionals are trained to provide sanitizing treatments and to remove odors and deodorize your property.

Restoration

Restoration is the process of restoring your home or business to its pre-loss condition. Restoration may involve minor repairs, such as replacing drywall and installing new carpet, or may entail major repairs, such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business.

Communicating with your insurance company

Because we keep a detailed record of the type and the extent of the water damage, we provide your insurance company with the data they need to process your claim.

When your home or commercial property has water damage from storm damage, flooding or leaks, we have the knowledge, training, expertise and equipment to properly restore your property.
